A Data-Driven Framework for Monitoring Physical Activity in Women in Spain: Design and Visualization with an Interactive Dashboard
Monitoring physical activity (PA) is essential for preventing chronic diseases and a key objective of public health policies, as highlighted by the World Health Organization, which recommends surveillance systems to track physical activity, particularly in women.
Existing surveys provide valuable information but are typically cross-sectional and limited for continuous and individual-level monitoring.
This work presents a data-driven framework for monitoring physical activity in women in Spain, integrating data collection, storage, and visualization. The system is based on a digital questionnaire including socio-demographic, gynecological, and behavioral variables.
An interactive dashboard developed in R Shiny enables dynamic visualization and automated analysis. The framework is designed to enable future longitudinal studies.
The main contribution is the transition from static surveys to a continuous monitoring system supporting evidence-based decision-making.
