A Scenario-Based AHP Decision Support App for Financial Reflection among Non-Expert Investors

Financial decision-making is often challenging for non-expert investors due to limited financial literacy and difficulty expressing preferences. This study proposes a decision support application that promotes structured reflection on investment choices. Based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), it uses pairwise comparisons within realistic scenarios to assess criteria such as expected return, risk, liquidity, stability, time horizon, and monitoring effort. To reduce cognitive burden, it employs an incomplete comparison structure, requiring users to answer only a limited number of intuitive questions. Financial alternatives are evaluated by experts and combined with user preferences to generate a personalized ranking and investment profile. The tool does not provide advice but aims to enhance awareness of individual priorities. A pilot test with university students will assess usability and perceived usefulness.
