Optimizing Multi-Feedstock Supply Chains for Next-Generation Compliant Fuels
D. Rodriguez Chavarria, B. González Rodríguez, R. Baigorri Martinez, J. González Díaz
EU regulations and the overarching objective of lifecycle neutrality pose significant economic and logistical challenges for traditional integrated energy producers. Meeting annual carbon intensity reduction targets requires the integration of biogenic and sustainable feedstocks into existing industrial value chains, while ensuring fuel quality standards, operational consistency, and economic efficiency.
This talk presents an optimization model designed to support strategic provisioning decisions across available feedstocks. The model aims to minimize incremental costs while ensuring full compliance with EU carbon intensity mandates and maintaining strict fuel quality standards.
The model is currently in use at Repsol company to support cross-functional procurement decisions, highlighting the contribution of mathematical optimization to robust, regulation-compliant, and economically sound pathways for the energy transition.
